Japanese language is my life's work and teaching Japanese allows me to share my love of the language with others. My students all receive a comprehensive learning package: Reading, Writing and Speaking. My teaching does not use romaji (Japanese language transliteration into English characters). I teach the Japanese alphabet (kana) from the very start and once that is solid, we move onto actual Japanese characters (kanji), grammar and pronunciation. I use an excellent textbook and my students have been pleased with the results. This particular textbook has the distinction of being the only Japanese textbook in the United States that is also used by native Japanese students in Japan. I also use Japanese children's books, comics (manga)and even phone apps as a way to engage my students and get them excited for Japanese!
I have been doing Japanese for over 5 years now and I have multiple Japanese language certifications under my belt. I have students (both male and female) who are currently studying with me and one of my recent graduates has even been accepted to a job position in Japan. I also run an international all-Japanese language Facebook page where people post in Japanese on a daily basis for practice and sharing links about Japanese culture.
