Concord

The city of Concord, California is the largest city by population in the county of Contra Costa, with a population of 121,780 residents. Concord is located only 31 miles from San Francisco and functions as one of its main suburbs. The history on Concord dates far back into the mid 1800s, when the region was a largely agrarian one. Crops such as grapes, walnuts, wheat, hay, and even tomatoes were all grown there in abundance. One of the sections of Concord, once known as the town of Cowell, was also a major producer of cement. Today, Concord is known to be a “bedroom community” for both San Francisco and Oakland, with most of its population commuting into those two cities each day for work.
