Denton

Located in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex Area, the city of Denton, Texas is one of the larger suburbs of that region, with a population of 80,537 residents. In 2006, it was determined that Denton was the fastest growing city by population in the entire United States. The city’s limits are composed of 62.3 square miles and have a population density of 1,309.7 residents per square mile. Known as the “Redbud Capital of Texas,” the city has consistently been named by Money Magazine as one of the best cities to live in the entire United States.

Denton is home to two state universities, the University of North Texas, the fourth largest university in Texas, as well as Texas Woman’s University, which is the largest state-supported women’s university in the United States. The city is named after John B. Denton, a famous Texas pioneer, preacher, lawyer, and Militia Captain.
