Portland
Nestled in between the Willamette and Columbia rivers, the beautiful city of Portland is the most populated city in the state of Oregon and the third most populous in the Pacific Northwest section of the country, just behind Seattle and Vancouver. Portland is known to be a progressive city, and has put into place innovative land-use initiatives as well as a heavy investment in its public transit system. The city enjoys a placid, northwestern climate and weather pattern, with warm, balmy summers and misty, rainy weather in the winters, not unlike Seattle.
Portland also shares a similar cultural spirit. Known for its hip, thriving nightlife, coffee shops, bars, nightclubs, and fine restaurants, the city offers young professionals one of the most cosmopolitan urban cultures on the west coast. This emphasis on culture has led to quite a thriving arts movement in the city, and Portland is now known for its diverse collection of artists and art organizations. The city was rated one of the 10 best arts cities in the U.S. in 2006. Portland is also home to well-respected Portland Art Museum, the Oregon Ballet Theatre, the Oregon Symphony, and the Portland Opera.

The West Side of the city is the oldest and most densely populated, but Downtown is located in the southwest section of the city.
