Cobol is the oldest computer programming language used today in the creation of computer programs. The word stands for Common Business-Oriented Language, which indicates its main application in the business, finance, and administrative sectors. Cobol’s most recent iteration uses object-oriented programming and other modern language features in order to create a wide variety of versatile business-related computer programs. The program uses a series of keywords in its unique programming language, which has served as a basis for more modern computer programming languages.
