Megan Hamilton is looking for a Ukulele tutor in Fort Wayne, IN 46805

I would like to learn to play the Ukulele but would really like to do it one on one with an actual person.
About Ukulele
The ukulele is the main instrument used in Hawaiian folk music, and therefore it, along with the Hawaiian slide guitar, is immediately associated with images of the Hawaiian islands. Interestingly, the ukulele is an adaptation of the Portuguese cavaquinho, which came to the islands as a result of explorers and sea merchants. Therefore, the two instruments share similarities in design and tuning. A ukulele essentially looks like a very small guitar, and in fact it is included in the guitar family as a chordophone. Indeed, it is mostly used as a chording accompaniment instrument and is typically strummed with the fingers. There are, however, some virtuosic ukulele players and methods, and these pursuits over the years has led to the development of many different sizes, tunings, and variations on the instrument. Now, there are four major designations of ukuleles: Soprano, Concert, Tenor, and Baritone. Typcially, Soprano ukuleles, the smallest of the four, are used as accompaniment.
There are several different tunings associated with the ukulele, however it is typical for the first or top string to be one note higher than the very bottom string, a highly unusual trait of the instrument that gives it a very particular sound. As a result, learning the various tunings for a ukulele, as well as learning how to strum and play rhythmic patterns, are a major part of learning how to master the instrument. Working one-on-one with a ukulele tutor, therefore, can be a tremendous asset.
